We all get triggered, they can be our greatest teachers, they can lead us to a path of understanding and healing. They come from hurt, from trauma, from unmet needs. The hurt itself my not have been our responsibility but once it has happened the healing is our responsibility. No one can do that for us. No one can do the healing work for us. Yes we may need some help to heal, but ultimately it is up to us. We cannot always control what happens to us, but we can control our reactions to things. We can actively work on our healing to become less reactive. What we don’t transform we continue transmit. When we are less reactive when we have transformed, we are much less likely to transmit more pain onto others. The chain of pain that goes from one person to another can come to an end.
What causes the trigger may not have been our fault but once we have it, the trigger is our responsibility.
