When we make excuses we are wasting our time and our energy. Sometimes there are reasons things are more difficult, reasons why problems seem more difficult to solve and why situations are more challenging than they need to be. When we make excuses, we are not making any progress. When we complain we are also wasting our time and our energy, especially in times where there is nothing we can do about the situation. When things are hard or they are not working, we need to change our approach to it. Try something else. There is always another way, even if we can’t see it at the time. Making excuses and complaining are basic ways of procrastinating. They delay us, hold us back from where we want to go and from what we ultimately want to do. The more challenging the problems we face, the better at problem solving we become. When something is difficult we can see it as a problem or an opportunity to learn, which in itself is progress. Or we can make excuses why something can’t be done. You can make progress or you can make excuses, you can’t do both.
