We have become so unproductive trying to not be unproductive. We have got to get this done and get that done. 2020 was the year of the pandemic and the productivity contest. When you have a day of doing nothing, there’s often the side eye staring at us, the internal guilt we feel and the word ‘lazy’ comes into our minds. Why? Why do we do this to ourselves? We are so out of practice in relaxing that when we are relaxing we are thinking about what we could, should or would be doing. Let’s stop that. So many times the most productive thing we can do is relax. Why can’t we be ok with doing absolutely nothing? It’s ok just to be. It’s ok to take a minute, an hour or a day. We don’t need to explain, we don’t need to justify, we don’t need to do anything. Be kinder to yourself, go easier on yourself, be patient with yourself. Rest, relax and recharge. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax.
