When we are not open we can’t hold more space for other people’s opinions, another version of truth, another perception, some possibility or any potential. When we closed we are less tolerant, we get frustrated more easily, we can’t see another way so we stick to what we do know. Closed minds can’t change, they remain stagnant and stuck, much like the lives they manage and control. To learn, to develop and to grow we need to be open. Open to possibility, open to potential, open to new ideas, open to there being other versions of what we already know and hold as truth. When we are open, we hold more space for new and different. Change is exactly that, new and different. Closed minds can’t create more space.
